A Labour of Love:
Quenton painstakingly pruned off the damage from the frosts and began a regular organic fertilising routine using natural organic fertilisers and micro organisms/bacteria to rebuild the soil and therefore the health of the trees.
This all naturally broke down and proved to be an added bonus for the soil condition, worm increase tree and fruit health…
We could not harvest until 2008.
Harvest 2008:
We had a bumper crop and got many orders from different Markets who all commented on the quality of our fruit.
As it was our first time harvesting for large orders we made a few mistakes and had to learn it all the hard way.
2009:
Quenton has continued his labour of love nuturing, feeding the trees as naturally and organically as possible and again it appears that we will be able to pick a bumper crop of healthy Avocados.
The rate of growth and health of the trees and fruit has often amazed us as we walk through the orchard.
We have had some intense winter weather this year that is still happenning now in September. The storms, winds and rains have been fierce, four of our Avocado trees have fallen over but are still determined to hang in there by the roots!
The trees are all heavy laden with fruit which looks very healthy…
Luckily, to date, there has been no really bad frost such of that in 2006.
A Pressed Avocado Picture I made for Quenton for fathers day:
